The British Columbia interior is home to ecosystems which are unique from anywhere else in Canada. In the Okanagan valley, low-elevation grassland ecosystems are threatened by a growing population and subsequent expanding development. It is essential to protect and maintain these ecosystems as they provide essential ecosystem services to the region, as well as provide habitat for several species at risk.
At XEN, our nursery grows a wide variety of native forbs, shrubs, and grasses native to the British Columbia interior. The majority of plants are started from seeds collected from local ecotypes, making our plants genetically and physiologically suited to the region. Greenhouse and nursery services include:
Retail and commercial sale of plants to landscapers, home owners, and reclamation companies.
Plant propagation and growing.
Specialising in native species (including Shrub Steppe, Bunchgrass, and Ponderosa Pine ecosystems)
Growing for custom orders. Orders must be placed at least 12 months in advance.
